PHOTOS: Lufthansa touches down in Ljubljana
NEWS FLASH
Lufthansa commenced double daily flights from Frankfurt to Ljubljana yesterday, marking the first time the carrier has run scheduled services to the Slovenian capital in 45 years. It previously served the city as an alternative to Zagreb in 1974 during the Croatian airport’s runway reconstruction. Commenting on the new service, the Head of Sales for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe at the Lufthansa Group, Peter Pullem, said, “A few months ago, I never imagined that I would be here in Slovenia. The reason we are here today came unexpectedly. We are sad about the developments with our partner Adria Airways”. Mr Pullem noted the airline is working on rescheduling its flights in the future so as to offer better connections for transfer passengers. Last year, Adria Airways carried 150.000 travellers on its service between the Slovenian capital and Frankfurt. Some 70% of those transferred onto other Lufthansa flights. Lufthansa will launch daily operations from Munich to Ljubljana on Friday.
