Sarajevo figures decline with recovery in sight

Sarajevo Airport handled 42.190 travellers during the first quarter of the year, representing a decrease of 69.6% compared to the same period in 2020. In March, it welcomed 18.115 passengers, down 35.9%. The airport is expected to see a strong rebound this summer season, with Wizz Air to station an aircraft in the city in late May and inaugurate nine new routes. Furthermore, Flybosnia will relaunch its operations, while several airlines have announced their service resumption to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital, including Flynas and Air Arabia. In addition, Lufthansa, Swiss and AnadoluJet will introduce new flights to Sarajevo, with the latter having already commenced its first of three new routes.
