Air Serbia responds to Blue Air grounding

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia is adding capacity on its service between Belgrade and Bucharest after the Romanian low carrier Blue Air announced this Tuesday it was temporarily suspending operations for at least a week. In a statement, the budget airline said that it was unable to make payments to any supplier because the government had blocked its accounts after it failed to pay two million dollars in fines for cancelled flights. Air Serbia is increasing capacity on the route from next Monday by deploying its 144-seat Airbus A319 aircraft instead of the usual seventy-seat ATR72. The A319 has so far been scheduled on flights for Monday September 12, followed by September 16, 17, 18, 19 and September 22. Additional changes are possible.
