Ljubljana to see strong charter operations over winter

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Airport is forecasting a notable number of charter flights this winter season, which begins on Sunday. Leisure services to popular destinations in Egypt, Turkey and Spain, as well as Malta are planned over the autumn. By the end of the year, flights will also be organised by Slovenian tour operators to Albania, Madeira, the Azores and Lapland. Charter flights to holiday hotspots are becoming an important source of passengers for Ljubljana Airport as it continues its slow recovery from both the demise of former national carrier Adria Airways and the coronavirus pandemic. During the January - August period, 15.3% of all passengers using Ljubljana Airport flew on charters, with the share to grow to over 20% by year's end. The General Manager of operator Fraport Slovenija, Babett Stapel, previously said there is potential to turn the airport into a hub for charter flights.
