Croatia’s ETF Airways granted tentative US flight permit

NEWS FLASH

Croatian charter carrier ETF Airways, specialising in ACMI flights, has been granted tentative approval to operate to the United States by the Department of Transportation. ETF Airways filed for a permit on September 10. In its decision, the US Department of Transportation noted the airline can now engage in the following:

The Department noted, “With respect to the applicant’s request for exemption authority, we find that grant of this authority, as conditioned, is consistent with the public interest. We also find that the applicant is financially and operationally qualified to perform the services authorised, and that it is substantially owned and effectively controlled in a manner consistent with the provisions of the US - EU Agreement. We also find that the authority sought by the applicant is encompassed by the US - EU Agreement. Further, we note that the applicant is properly licensed by its homeland to perform the proposed services. In addition, the Federal Aviation Administration has advised us that it knew of no reason why we should act unfavourably on the applicant’s request”.

Those wishing to object to the order have 21 days to lodge their complaint. In the event no objections are filed, the Department will make their tentative decision final. As previously reported, ETF Airways plans to add a further two aircraft to its fleet next year for a total of five and recently established two carriers in the French overseas departments of Reunion and Martinique, with the aim of setting up a permanent presence in the territories, one of which is in the Indian Ocean and the other in the Caribbean.
