Croatia and Albania discuss potential flights

NEWS FLASH

The Presidents of Croatia and Albania have discussed the introduction of flights between the two countries. During a meeting between the two leaders, the Albanian president, Bajram Begaj, said the two sides would work on establishing a nonstop air service between Tirana and Zagreb. “Despite excellent political relations and improving economic ties, there is still much to be done in terms of business cooperation. In order to improve connectivity between the two countries, which would directly impact on tourism, we agreed that the time has come to establish flights between the two countries”, Mr Begaj said. In Zagreb Airport’s new Connecting Capital Cities incentive scheme, which will come into effect on June 1, Tirana has been listed as one of the destinations that will be incentivised. Croatia Airlines used to connect Zagreb with Tirana in the early 2000s. Twenty years later, just prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Croatia Airlines’ management held talks with relevant stakeholders over the introduction of flights to the Albanian capital.
