Slovenia launches fresh subsidies for airlines
NEWS FLASH
The Slovenian government has issued a public call for airlines to apply for financial assistance for the introduction of new routes from the country, after funds were left over from the previous tender held in April. “Based on the applications which were submitted in the first round, which was announced in April this year, the Ministry selected the beneficiary of the aid in early June and, as a result, concluded that not all of the planned funds were awarded in the first round. Therefore, the Ministry calls on carriers to submit applications during the second deadline”, the Slovenian Ministry for Infrastructure said. Only Luxair and Air Montenegro applied in the first round, a development the Ministry has labelled as disappointing. A total of 16.8 million euros have been set aside in subsidies over a three-year period. The deadline for airlines to apply for the second tender has been set for July 30.
