Serbia lifts restrictions on airport handlers
NEWS FLASH
The Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate has lifted a cap on a maximum of three handling operators at the country’s airports in an attempt to ease delays at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, which have been primarily blamed on a lack of handling staff. Handling companies interested in doing business in Serbia can now apply and must be certified by the Directorate. A total of six handling companies are certified to provide handling services at Belgrade Airport but only three were allowed to do so up until now. These were Belgrade Airport, SKY Partner and Air Serbia Ground Handling Services (which has outsourced its operations to Belgrade Airport). The other three handling companies that are already certified by the regulator are the United Kingdom’s Menzies Aviation, Greece’s Goldair Handling and Serbia’s Air Pink.
