Air Serbia to handle over four million passengers in 2023

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia expects to handle over four million passengers this year, up from its initial forecast of up to 3.5 million. Speaking at the Aviation Day South East Europe conference in Belgrade, Mr Marek said, “We can safely say that we will reach 3.5 million passengers during October. This year we will break the new record and handle over four million passengers”. Commenting further on passenger performance, Mr Marek noted, This market was always set to grow faster than the rest of Europe. The demand is there after Covid and if you are able to deploy capacity fast enough and act you will benefit from it. We are operating, on average, about 40% above 2019 levels. We will be reaching record-breaking passenger numbers and record-breaking profitability this year”. He added, “The biggest surprise for us this year was the Lisbon route which started in April and was immediately sold out. We have a high load factor on this service, which is why we are increasing frequencies this winter. We are also opening Porto, after the success of Lisbon and the schedule enables passengers to combine both destinations because they don’t operate on the same days. Unexpectedly, Izmir has also performed very well. We have been looking at Izmir for several years but in discussions with Turkish Airlines we decided that both we AnadoluJet would open it, and that destination has performed really well. I would highlight those two, since all the others were no-brainers”.
