Norwegian and Iberia bid for Slovenian subsidies
NEWS FLASH
Norwegian Air Shuttle and Iberia were the only two carriers to apply for the third tender call issued by the Slovenian government for airlines to introduce new routes to the country in return for subsidies lasting over a period of three years. As recently reported by EX-YU Aviation News, Norwegian will introduce services from Copenhagen to Ljubljana next year, entering the Slovenian market for the first time, while Iberia will commence operations between Madrid and the Slovenian capital, marking its return following short-lived seasonal summer flights maintained between the two cities back in 2021. The state has allocated 16.8 million euros in subsidies divided over three years, or 5.6 million euros per year.
