Ryanair adding five new Zagreb routes
Ryanair will further grow its presence in Zagreb next year with plans to station a fourth aircraft in the city, introduce new destinations and increase frequencies on existing services. The carrier has so far filed five new routes from the Croatian capital, including Alicante, Girona and Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Pisa in Italy, as well as Marseille in France, starting March 31, 2024. Further additions, as well as modifications to the planned network are possible at this initial stage. The airline is placing a strong focus on operations between Zagreb and Spain, following the success of other routes including Malaga, which will see frequencies increased next year, as well as the recently introduced Lanzarote route, initially launched as a winter seasonal service, which will now operate year-round. Tickets for the new routes are expected to go on sale in the coming period.
Destination | Launch date | Weekly frequency |
---|---|---|
Palma de Mallorca | 31.03.2024 | 2 |
Marseille | 31.03.2024 | 2 |
Pisa | 31.03.2024 | 2 |
Girona | 01.04.2024 | 2 |
Alicante | 02.04.2024 | 2 |
Ryanair also plans to resume flights from Zagreb to Manchester, Podgorica and Sofia next summer, which were suspended over the winter. Existing routes which will see their frequencies increased compared to the previous summer include Basel (from four weekly to six), Beauvais (two to four), Charleroi (six to seven), Rome Fiumicino (four to five), Gothenburg (two to three), Malta (four to seven), Weeze (three to four), London Stansted (seven to nine), and the abovementioned Malaga (from two weekly flights to four weekly rotations). Routes that operated last summer that are currently not slated in Ryanair’s Zagreb schedule include Brindisi, Bratislava, Memmingen and Hahn, however, changes remain possible with the airline yet to fully finalise its Zagreb summer network.
Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, Jason McGuinness, recently said, “Last year we carried just over 900.000 passengers on our Zagreb flights, this year it will be closer to 1.2 million and the plan is to continue growing in Zagreb. We are boosting connectivity and the economy and driving tourism. It’s all about direct connections. We had close to thirty destinations from Zagreb this summer, 27 to be more precise, and we will try to get that to over thirty for summer 2024”. The carrier currently has three Airbus A320 aircraft from its Lauda Europe subsidiary stationed at Croatia’s busiest airport. Based on its current 2024 summer season network, the airline has 29 routes filed to operate out of Zagreb with a total of 99 weekly departures.
