Air Serbia to suspend Niš - Italy flights

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will temporarily suspend operation from Niš to Italy, as well as reduce its operations from Belgrade to the country as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak.

Services from Niš to both Rome and Blogna will be suspended as of today until the start of the 2020 summer season on March 29. “The decision was made with the consent of relevant authorities. Passengers who have purchased tickets for these two routes will be offered the opportunity to defer their travel plans for a later date, get a free ticket change for another Air Serbia destination from Niš or Belgrade, or have the ticket refunded. The Air Serbia Contact Centre will get in touch with all passengers who have purchased tickets between Niš and Bologna, as well as between Niš and Rome, for flights during the affected period to help them find the best solution”, the company said in a statement.

Air Serbia is also partially reducing some of its operations from Belgrade to Italy. The airline has cancelled its flights between the Serbian capital and Venice on March 11, 25 and 30, as well as April 6 and 27. Flights to Milan have been cancelled on March 12, 16, 17, 19, 24 and 26. In April, all flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays have been cancelled except on April 9 and 14. Air Serbia will continue to operate flights between Belgrade and Rome without any changes to its schedule.

Although China and South Korea have recorded their lowest number of new Covid-19 cases in weeks, the outbreak shows no signs of slowing in Europe. In Italy, the number of cases has jumped to 7.375 as an exclusion zone in the north of the country comes into force. Alitalia has announced it will suspend all operations out of its Milan Malpensa base as of today.
