Luxair to launch Belgrade flights

Luxembourg’s national carrier Luxair will commence operations between its hub and Belgrade this summer. The airline will launch two weekly flights between the two cities, each Thursday and Sunday, starting June 3. Ticket sales will commence on January 25. It marks the first time the two cities will be linked with a nonstop air service. “Because travelling is a strong desire, Luxair and LuxairTours are constantly innovating in order to offer their customers the possibility of getting away from it all in complete serenity. By offering new destinations that meet market demand, Luxair and LuxairTours are trying to meet the requirements imposed by the context of the health crisis”, the airline said.

Belgrade will become Luxair’s third new destination in the former Yugoslavia this year following Podgorica and Tivat. Services to the Montenegrin capital were initially to begin last December but were delayed until February and have now been postponed until April, while operations to Tivat are set to commence on May 15 as planned. Elsewhere in the former Yugoslavia, Luxembourg’s national carrier maintains seasonal flights to Dubrovnik and Split, which are due to resume in April and May respectively. Further details for the Belgrade service can be found here. Serbia has the second diaspora in Luxembourg of all the former Yugoslav republics after Montenegro, with over 2.300 Serbian passports registered in the Grand Duchy.

In the coming months, Belgrade is set to see a number of new routes launched. This Sunday, Nordwind airlines will commence flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, on March 21, Eurowings will inaugurate services from Stuttgart, while on March 28 and 29, Wizz Air will introduce services from Sandefjord and Hamburg. In addition, Ukraine’s SkyUp Airlines will start operations from Kiev to the Serbian capital on March 30. The coming period should also see Aegean Airlines, Air France, LOT, easyJet, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Red Wings Airlines and Transavia all restore their operations to Belgrade which have been temporarily suspended. Changes remain possible.
