Delta Air Lines to launch Dubrovnik service
One of the world’s busiest airlines, Delta, will launch seasonal summer flights between the United States and Dubrovnik this year. The service will run from New York’s JFK Airport four times per week, starting July 2. The development comes just weeks after United announced the introduction of seasonal three weekly flights from New York’s Newark Liberty Airport, starting this July. JFK is a hub for Delta. The airline operates a fleet of over 700 aircraft. It will utilise the 226-seat Boeing 767-300 jet on the Dubrovnik service, featuring full-flat Delta One beds, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin service.

Dubrovnik will now have two of the three biggest US carriers maintaining flights to the country this summer, one from Newark and the other from New York JFK. Commenting on the new route launch, Delta's Senior Vice President for Network Planning, Joe Esposito, said, "Customers are at the center of everything we do, including where we fly, and the addition of a new outdoor-friendly destination is another sign of the surge in demand we’re seeing. More countries are easing restrictions for vaccinated travelers, and we’re ready to help reconnect people to their lives and loved ones". Croatia's Minister for Tourism, Nikolina Brnjac, noted, "We are extremely pleased with the decision of Delta Air Lines to establish the New York - Dubrovnik route this summer. Croatia has been open to US tourists since the beginning of April, with proof of vaccination or recovery or a negative PCR or antigen test and booking confirmation. Our national Safe Stay in Croatia label ensures the highest epidemiological standards for tourists and we look forward to welcoming back American tourists very soon".

Dubrovnik Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ivan Maslač, previously said that talks were held with all three major US carriers - Delta, United and American Airlines. A group of US tour operators have been on a familiarisation trip to Croatia over the past week. “The fact that the first European trip for American tour operators was organised to Croatia shows that Americans are eagerly awaiting new adventures to our country. It confirms our country’s position as a sought after and well preprepared destination. This has been aided by the fact that we were one of the few markets open for American guests. We expect even better trends this year with the American market being linked with nonstop flights from New York to Dubrovnik”, the head of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Stanišić, said.
