Air Serbia and ITA Airways ink codeshare deal

Air Serbia and Italy’s new national carrier ITA Airways have signed a wide-ranging codeshare agreement. Air Serbia will place its JU designator code and flight numbers onto ITA’s services from Rome to Athens, Tirana, Bari, Brindisi, Genoa, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Palermo, Turin, Trieste and Venice. On the other hand, ITA will place its code and flights numbers onto Air Serbia’s operations from Rome and Milan to Belgrade, as well as from the Serbian capital to Athens, Banja Luka, Bucharest, Ljubljana, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Sofia, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tivat and Tirana. Air Serbia’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Jiri Marek, said, “Italy is a very important market, both for Serbia, and the region, which clearly confirms the strategic importance of the established partnership. We are happy to continue cultivating traditionally good relations with the Italian national airline. Also, we are pleased that we are helping improve and strengthen cultural and economic ties between our countries. It will be our great pleasure to welcome the passengers of our partner ITA Airways on Air Serbia’s flights, with our widely-known hospitality”. ITA has previously said it plans to launch operations between Rome and Belgrade next August.
