Slovenia opts for €2 million in airline subsidies
NEWS FLASH
The Slovenian government has launched tender procedures for commercial airlines to share up to two million euros in subsidies to maintain operations to the country, despite initially earmarking seven million euros for the purpose. Carriers operating at least two weekly rotations to Slovenia from June 1, 2022 until October 30, 2022 are eligible for the subsidies. The remaining funds will likely be offered in subsequent phases. The scheme is designed to encourage airlines that maintain services to the country to up their frequencies, as well as attract new carriers. Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Air France were the largest beneficiaries of a similar subsidy scheme last year.
