PHOTOS: LOT touches down in Sarajevo

NEWS FLASH

LOT Polish Airlines has inaugurated operations between Warsaw and Sarajevo, marking its entry onto Bosnia and Herzegovina’s market, its sixth in the former Yugoslavia. Flights between the two capital cities will run five times per week, each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Services will be maintained with the 82-seat Embraer E175 aircraft. In keeping with its strategy for the remainder of its network in the former Yugoslavia, the carrier is offering transfer options to a number of destinations via its Warsaw hub for Sarajevo passengers. LOT’s arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital further strengthens Star Alliance’s presence at the airport, complementing Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and Turkish Airlines. “The opening of this new nonstop service between Warsaw and Sarajevo is proof of Poland’s growing presence in the Western Balkans region. I hope that it will not only result in easier access for Polish pilgrims visiting the Medjurgorje sight but will also serve as a catalyst for greater economic, political and cultural cooperation between Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the Polish Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek, said. The General Manager of Sarajevo Airport, Alan Bajić, noted, “We are delighted to have welcomed the launch of LOT Polish Airlines’ flights. The introduction of nonstop services between Sarajevo and Warsaw are of great significance for the development of tourism and trade in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the improvement of economic ties. This route is especially important because of all the connections it offers via its hub in Warsaw”.
