Montenegro Airlines to open Belgrade maintenance base

NEWS FLASH

Montenegro Airlines in bankruptcy plans to begin aircraft line maintenance at Belgrade Airport. The former national carrier has leased premises at Serbia’s main airport which will be used for the maintenance of Embraer E195 and Fokker 100 jets. The bankruptcy administrator will now lodge an application with the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate for the company to be issued a permit. Montenegro Airlines has all the necessary equipment in order to carry out line maintenance. The company said it is already negotiating with several potential clients. Montenegro Airlines terminated operations on December 25 of last year after the state said it was no longer able to finance the carrier. It has since declared bankruptcy and a new national airline has been established in its place. Montenegro Airlines hopes the line base in Belgrade will generate income and increase the company's bankruptcy estate.
