PHOTOS: AnadoluJet touches down in Belgrade

Turkish Airlines' lower cost unit AnadoluJet inaugurated flights between Ankara and Belgrade this morning, linking to the two capitals with a scheduled nonstop air service for the first time. Operations will be maintained twice per week with the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, complementing Turkish Airlines' double daily rotations from Istanbul. Speaking at the route's launch event in Belgrade, AnadoluJet's CEO, Said Samil Karakas, said, “This service presents an opportunity for our Serbian friends to visit both Ankara and Cappadocia. In addition, the flight from Ankara will connect our guests from Belgrade to important tourism centres such as Antalya and Izmir, as well as a further 31 domestic and 23 international destinations from Ankara. We aim to expand our Ankara base by 50% in 2022 compared to 2021. This new route from Ankara to Belgrade is an important part of this growth strategy. We will offer affordable prices on this route to enable our gusts from Turkey and Serbia to take this opportunity to fly to these beautiful cities”. The Ambassador of Turkey to Serbia, Hami Aksoy, noted, "This year, up until the end of October, 200.000 Serbian tourists visited Turkey while 40.000 Turks came to Serbia. This route will further boost social, economic and tourism ties between the two countries". He added the planned abolishment of passport requirements for travel between the two nations will further aid tourism growth.
