Air Serbia unveils three new routes

Air Serbia has announced the launch of three new routes from Belgrade, bringing the total number of new destinations from its hub this summer to nine. Starting June 1, the airline will commence flights to Amman in Jordan, followed by Sochi in Russia on June 2, as well as Lyon in France the following day. Services to Amman will be operated four times per week during the summer, decreasing to three weekly in the winter. The Amman flights were originally planned to commence in June 2020 but were postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic. Until 2001, the route was served by Air Serbia's predecessor JAT Yugoslav Airlines.

Lyon will become Air Serbia's third destination in France following Paris and Nice and will be maintained twice per week. Lyon was previously operated by Wizz Air in 2019 but the route was suspended after several months. In addition, Sochi will become Air Serbia's fifth destination in Russia and will run twice per week. Tickets for flights to Amman and Lyon go on sale today, while sales for the Sochi route will commence once the airline is granted necessary permits by Russian authorities.

Commenting on the latest network additions, Air Serbia's Head of Sales, Boško Rupić, said, “The decision to introduce direct flights to Amman is a result of the strategic importance of renewing our presence in the Middle East region, while the planned commencement of the flights to Sochi is the result of the significance of the Russian market for Air Serbia and the fact that this tourist destination is underserved with direct international flights. Thanks to extremely successful routes to Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don, we have positioned ourselves as one of the airlines with the largest market share between Russia and the Balkans. We are also focused on strengthening our presence in France, which is why we are launching flights to Lyon, being one of the wealthiest regions in the country and market with great potential. We are happy to be adding these new destinations to our network and looking forward to further expansion in the upcoming period".
