Slovenian government approves Iberia, Norwegian subsidies

NEWS FLASH

The Slovenian Minister for Infrastructure, Alenka Bratušek, has approved the provision of subsidies to both Iberia and Norwegian for the introduction of their respective flights from Madrid and Copenhagen to Ljubljana. “The two carriers will now be notified that the funds have been approved, and the contracts will be harmonised in the next few days. Once this happens, the approximate financial resources that will be provided to each carrier will be made public”, the Ministry said. Iberia has already scheduled the launch of its seasonal Ljubljana service, with Norwegian yet to do so, although it is expected to commence year-round flights from April 29. The subsidies are designed to cover 50% of the airline’s airport costs in Slovenia over a three-year period.
