TUI tours Maribor Airport in potential MRO deal

NEWS FLASH

The TUI Group, the German leisure, travel and tourism company, along with Poente Technical, a Serbian-run aviation maintenance company with offices in Cyprus and Belgrade, have jointly toured Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport over the potential set-up of a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility (MRO). TUI has base maintenance centres located in London and Brussels and the company intends on expanding its aircraft maintenance activities in the coming years, so Slovenia is being considered as a potential location for an MRO facility. The two have already held several meetings with the Slovenian government over the past few months and met up with the Slovenian Ministry for Infrastructure, as well as DRI, which is the state-run operator of Maribor Airport, ten days ago to further explore potential opportunities.
